(18:00:48) anth_x: so far i like this quite a bit. the control-q+whatever thing feels off to me (emacs; ick), but i'll give that more time before thinking about alternatives.
(18:01:53) anth_x: my biggest complaint with the model so far is that if, for example, i have stack 1&2 visible, go to stack 3, then go back to stack 2, it doesn't remember the previous layout.

(21:42:28) mjl-: anth_x: wm/run is a separate program, a replacement for wm/sh.  it's at a similar url at qwm, but ending with "wmrun"
(21:42:56) mjl-: wm/run needs chording before it may be good enough
(21:43:12) mjl-: control-q in qwm is a bit weird indeed
(21:43:32) mjl-: it's similar to screen's control-a, or tmux's control-b (a newer screen-clone)
(21:44:54) mjl-: i would have chosen alt as a modifier, but that's not practical in inferno:  on hosted, your native x11 window is likely to have claimed those keys.  and afaik it is not easy to portably get at the standard scan codes (/dev/scancode is host os-specific)
(21:45:27) mjl-: as for switching back, there is ^q^q for switching back to the previous column config
(21:45:42) mjl-: so if you are at 1&2, then switch to only 3.  ^q^q will bring you back to 1&2

(21:51:50) anth_x: mjl-: the problem's certainly harder in hosted setups, when you have to work around what the host WM is likely to have grabbed.
(21:52:22) anth_x: i've already found myself doing ctrl+1, ctrl+2, etc when i mean ctrl+q 1, with the result of moving my OS X spaces. :-)
