(03:06:20) leetspete: iz: I originally started using Inferno to learn Plan 9.  Since then I've switched to using it for everything but browser/IM/movies/mp3s.
(03:08:03) leetspete: iz: I think it's a little nicer overall (being somewhat later) in terms of usability, but it's missing things like audio (on some platforms), a full-featured browser, PDF reader, etc.
(03:09:20) powerman: leetspete: yeah. when you got this issue first time I think "happens", but when doublec got it too I become curious enough to investigate it, 'cos inferno services shouldn't "just die by unknown reason", this feels somewhat wrong :)

(03:33:08) doublec: leetspete: have you tried using the vnc client to use a browser/IM/movies, etc that run on another host?
(03:43:56) leetspete: doublec: I've actually only used urxvt and xeyes with it, I think.  It'd probably actually do fine with those, but usually I just hit a button to pop over to the browser or the screen session with my IM stuff in it.
(03:45:03) doublec: it'd be possible to run bitlbee for IM on a server and use ircfs to connect to it as well. Native Inferno IM clients would be nice of course.

(03:49:41) leetspete: I had issues with getting ircfs to talk to bitlbee, but I didn't try for *too* long.

(03:53:27) leetspete: iz: Inferno doesn't do 3D acceleration, unfortunately.  I do have a half-done SDL port that might be able to expose some OpenGL to the OS when it is actually done.
