(21:21:22) powerman: I'm constantly running out of (host os) file descriptors in emu. Anyone aware about any issues related to reusing them?
(21:24:49) powerman: I've about 300 persistent tcp connections in emu (simple tcp wrapper to access /mnt/registry/{find,new,event} for clients incompatible with 9P).
(21:25:23) powerman: So, these 300 are just opened "new" and (most of them) "event" registry files.

(21:26:53) powerman: Now, when some services restart (usually because of installing updates), they reconnect to registry, and many other services also make new connections because of "service deleted"/"service added" events they receive.
(21:27:52) powerman: So, a storm of new tcp connections happens - in worst case it may be about 1000 new tcp connections in short period of time.
(21:28:42) powerman: But all these new connections (to "find" file) quickly closes and we back to 300 persistent connections.
(21:29:36) powerman: After this happens several times my registry service dies because of "no available file descriptors".
(21:31:25) powerman: It started using ulimit -n 4096, so I expect this shouldn't happens.
(21:34:41) anth_r: you're running out *with* that ulimit?

(21:38:18) anth_r: that's quite a lot. i don't have anything running with a similar usage pattern, but that does sound odd.
(21:49:06) powerman: I've tried to monitor /proc/*/fd/ and /net/tcp/ - everything looks fine, fd's reused.
