(22:14:46) anth_x: anyone talking to a conventional database from inferno? (22:15:00) anth_x: postgresql or similar, and not using "os". (22:24:40) sandbender1512: not I (22:32:40) Code_Man` left the room (quit: Remote host closed the connection). (22:35:48) powerman: anth_x: http://code.google.com/p/limbo-machine/ says it have postgresql driver (22:39:52) anth_x: powerman: cool, i'll have to look into that. thanks. (22:43:08) powerman: anth_x: also there is old ODBC driver in inferno, but you probably know about it :) (22:46:20) anth_x: yeah. i was hoping for something else. (22:47:16) leetspete1: anth_x: Making a list or a program? (22:57:36) powerman: anth_x: also check this http://maht0x0r.blogspot.com/2007/10/postgresql-client-for-limbo-update.html (22:58:25) powerman: afaik this is all (22:59:56) powerman: if I ever will need to access mysql from limbo I'll probably either run trivial network service in perl to proxy requests from limbo, or link libmysql.so with emu and write C module to provide access to libmysql api from limbo (23:01:04) powerman: both ways should be ease enough (23:02:16) leetspete: Their on-the-wire protocols are easy enough to speak, aren't they? (23:02:29) powerman: mysql? not really (23:03:15) powerman: a friend of mine spend a lot of time trying to implement mysql protocol in pure-perl (to make possible to use async queries unsupported by libmysql at that time) (23:03:24) leetspete: I'd looked at it but not done it for Postgres. TokyoTyrant is easy enough that you could build a driver in an afternoon, but I don't think it's very popular (not that that would deter anyone using Inferno.;). (23:06:00) powerman: afaik it's complete but not released yet. so it's probably possible to take it source, convert from perl to limbo and get working native driver… but I think linking libmysql.so will be much more reliable. previously they've used undocumented protocol and change it often enough (23:06:34) powerman: and I'm not sure mysql protocol documented and published even now (23:17:14) loz2 left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
